Our Journey of Faith:
The McGuire Family
The Calling and the Transition
My name is Shawn, and alongside my incredible wife, Teresa, and our wonderful children, Sophia and Tristan, we are the family behind Faith and Family Homestead - Christian Retreat. For years, my entire career was steeped in the corporate world of Technology and Oil and Gas, specifically in Maintenance and Reliability. We were comfortable, but we felt a persistent, unmistakable pull from God calling us to something more.
That call led us to make one of the biggest decisions of our lives: leaving the corporate structure entirely and moving our family to a peaceful homestead property in Greenfield, Missouri. We started working remotely, assuming we would phase into the new life slowly. However, God, in His perfect timing, saw fit to accelerate the plan. Opportunities quickly arose that allowed us to transition from remote work to full-time ministry far sooner than we ever anticipated. That was the moment Faith and Family Homestead truly began to take shape.
Understanding Our "Designed Intent"
The Calling and the Transition
In my career, I knew this: "The fastest way for a piece of Equipment to fail is to use it other than its designed intent." This principle is simple, logical, and vital in the physical world, but God used it to challenge my thinking about my family and my faith.
I began to ask: If God created Teresa and I as one through marriage, what is our designed intent in His Kingdom? What did He create us to do?
Through much prayer, searching, and counsel, we focused on discovering our Spiritual Gifts. The realization was powerful and clarifying: my gift is Administration, and Teresa’s gift is Helps. We understood then that our unified "designed intent" was to actively edify the Church—to build up and strengthen fellow believers. This realization wasn't just a mission statement; it was the divine blueprint for Faith and Family Homestead - Christian Retreat.
Faith and Family Homestead: Our Ministry
The Calling and the Transition
We officially launched the ministry in 2022, and we have watched God grow it steadily ever since. Our vision is simple yet profound: to create a dedicated space where individuals and families can escape the noise, rest, and reconnect with their faith and their loved ones.
We are actively using our homestead property to sustain the ministry. It is our goal that revenue generated from items we raise and sell from the homestead will fund the retreats as much as possible, making the ministry self-sustaining and focused purely on outreach.
Our current focuses include:
Ladies Retreats: Time for women to recharge, connect, and study God's Word together.
Men's Retreats: Opportunities for men to build fellowship and be challenged in their spiritual walk.
Day Camps and Weekend Camp Outs: Focused on family connections and teaching practical skills alongside spiritual truths.
We are so excited to see how God continues to use our family and our property to serve the Body of Christ. We look forward to the chance to welcome you to the Homestead!
